Fiberlicious

Layout Design, Embroidery, Motion Graphics

Fiberlicious is a visionary project aimed at reinventing snack packaging by utilizing a fiber fabric that diverges from traditional materials, and meticulously crafting each package manually.

Creative Brief

Snack packaging is redesigned using fabric and traditional techniques like embroidery, once seen as separate from art and design. While modern tools and AI are widely available, this project encourages designers to balance new technology with the value of handmade craftsmanship.

Approach

This artwork does not aim to exactly replicate real packaging but instead embraces impressionistic aesthetics and elements of abstraction. Felt was carefully cut to mimic the text and typography of the original packaging, with a sewing machine used to recreate its design. The colors were selected to closely match the originals.

Impact

Creating cookies that looked realistic was both challenging and fun.

The project was influenced by Lucy Sparrow, an artist who made a grocery store entirely out of felt. Today, graphic designers need to go beyond using computer tools and explore traditional techniques like embroidery and sewing.

The project serves as the foundation for creating plushies for commercials and industrial design products, or soft artwork that offers an interactive and tactile experience. It pushes the boundaries of graphic design, blending traditional techniques like sewing with something new and interesting.
